More on the SOH Concert Hall

Further to my last post, I saw “Amadeus” in the Concert Hall last week. Notwithstanding the 18 piece orchestra and 10 singers, the piece remained true to its origins as a (now classic) play, with full set / costumes / lighting in a proscenium style. The SOH has very much achieved another one of its multi-purpose objectives for the Concert Hall as demonstrated by this production!!

SSO & Sydney Opera House Concert Hall

Earlier this week, I FINALLY got to check out the newly renovated Concert Hall, with an SSO program including the Ravel Piano Concerto. Great concert, and much improved acoustics!!!

Sydney Philharmonia Choirs

On Easter Saturday, I had the pleasure of attending a performance of Bach’s “Mass in B Minor” at the Sydney Town Hall, with an 80-strong double choir, 35 piece orchestra including baroque organ AND harpsichord continuos, and four soloists.

This is one of my very favourite choral works so I’m biased, but I thought it was an absolutely wonderful performance. The Sydney Philharmonia are back with a subscription season in 2022, and back in the Opera House Concert Hall after renovations later this year, and I highly recommend getting along to a performance if you can.
